Lauren Lakeberg

Midwest nature photographer &
cyanotype artist. Film + digital.
Exploring the outdoors with my dog Kai.

My first word was light. Photography has been a part of my entire life.

I'm based in the Chicago suburbs and I spend most of my time outdoors, on the trail or disc golf course with camera in hand, and my AWE-SOME dog Kai (she’s part Australian cattle dog and part some-thing else, thus she is an AWE-SOME).

I photograph nature and the outdoors on both 35mm film and digital, and I make handmade botanical cyanotypes using plants I find in the wild.

There's something about slowing down, really looking at a place, and making something tangible from it that never gets old.

The Midwest doesn't always get the credit it deserves. It's genuinely beautiful out here, and I'm on a mission to document all of it.

What you'll find here

Film reviews, location guides, nature photography, cyanotype work, honest gear talk, and a whole lot of Kai.

MY DOG KAI

Kai is our Australian Cattle Dog. She came into our lives in 2024, when she was just 4 months old. She is the best! A natural at playing frisbee, and getting my errant shots out of the creek or rough on the disc golf course.

the disc golf photographer

I've also been photographing disc golf since 2004 — major tournaments across the country, local series in the Joliet area, and everything in between. It's a separate chapter of my work that lives over at The Disc Golf Photographer if you want to check it out.
